The Princes Bike

29 April 2010 No Comment

Prince Harry has become the proud new owner of a Ducati 848, the latest in his collection of superbikes. He currently owns a number of trail bikes, and a Triumph, costing more than £8000m, which he purchased only four months after passing his bike test. His new Ducati can hit speeds of 170 mph, and cost over £11500, as it is a bespoke vehicle. Prince Harry posed on a motorbike for his 21st birthday, and was photographed by Mario Testino in a book released to mark the turning of age of England's youngest prince.

Along with his older brother, Harry is a massive bike enthusiast and recently took part in a charity motorbike rally, where he drove 1000 miles, in South Africa. The rally started in Port Edward, and raised money for UNICEF. Each rider had to donate a minimum contribution of £1500 to enter the race, a small fee for the prince, who was accompanied by his brother, Prince William. The princes were also raising money for the charity Sentebale, founded by Harry, which aims to support orphans in Lesotho.

A friend of Prince Harry told the Daily Mail: "Harry loves his motorbikes and has absolutely no fear - which may, or may not, be a good thing.

"Both William and Harry enjoy the anonymity that putting on their leathers and taking to the road. No-one knows who they are and in the biking world people just treat them as one of the lads, which they love."

As well as Motor Insurance, Prince Harry has the added bonus of being accompanied on the roads by bodyguards.
